**We did this a couple days before his birthday so that his actual birthday wasn't so stressful - I definitely recommend that!**
I always wanted to do one...I heard about it when I was pregnant with Beckett. Loved the idea. So happy that I finally got to do one with Teague. Although, he wasn't very happy about it :)
Making his cake was fun...everyone told me it would be easier to just buy it BUT I really wanted to make his first cake. I wanted to make his cake...when he tried cake for the first time ever! It was a bit more stressful doing it myself though...
(Thank you LORI for letting me borrow the pans - you are the best!!)

Bringing him into the room...that Jed and I spent forever removing furniture and such...he just pointed and screamed. He was so excited...but confused at the same time. He wasn't sure what we wanted him to do. He would look at the cake...scream...and then try to run away!

Finally after having him run away from the cake a few times...we stuck his hand into the frosting - he did NOT like that! He started to get pretty upset...he wouldn't even let us put the frosting into his mouth. I thought that if he just tried the PURE SUGAR he wouldn't be able to stop himself from consuming the entire cake. When that didn't work...we sent in reinforcements...his siblings...to eat the cake and SHOW him that it was yummy...didn't work either. He thought it was funny to watch them eat it! Then Jed even showed him how to take a big bite ...he still wouldn't have anything to do with this GREEN cake.

He got the idea...you grab the cake, take a big fist full...and then - bring it to Daddy's mouth! He thought it was fun to grab some cake and carry it to each person in the room. He still refused to eat it on his own! He definitely was NOT happy when anyone tried OR focused him to eat some birthday cake. He got very upset...came running into my arms saying, "Mom - Mom." Needless to say I was covered in cake as much as he was! But I could never NOT hug my baby when he is crying my name <3

He made a mess. Which is what I wanted him to do. He probably only ate 2-3 bites total. I think this completely scared him. Maybe it is a good thing...he wont have a sweet tooth like his momma!
We realized...once we were done...that he hated being messy. THAT was the problem. He didn't know how to handle his hands being covered in sticky mess. Once we cleaned off his hands he would grab some cake - until he realized, again, that it made his hands messy. Basically once he was in the shower washing off the birthday cake - he was happy!
