Cake Mash

**We did this a couple days before his birthday so that his actual birthday wasn't so stressful - I definitely recommend that!**
I always wanted to do one...I heard about it when I was pregnant with Beckett.  Loved the idea.  So happy that I finally got to do one with Teague.  Although, he wasn't very happy about it :)

Making his cake was fun...everyone told me it would be easier to just buy it BUT I really wanted to make his first cake.  I wanted to make his cake...when he tried cake for the first time ever!  It was a bit more stressful doing it myself though...
(Thank you LORI for letting me borrow the pans - you are the best!!)

Bringing him into the room...that Jed and I spent forever removing furniture and such...he just pointed and screamed.  He was so excited...but confused at the same time.  He wasn't sure what we wanted him to do.  He would look at the cake...scream...and then try to run away!

Finally after having him run away from the cake a few times...we stuck his hand into the frosting - he did NOT like that!  He started to get pretty upset...he wouldn't even let us put the frosting into his mouth.  I thought that if he just tried the PURE SUGAR he wouldn't be able to stop himself from consuming the entire cake.  When that didn't work...we sent in reinforcements...his siblings...to eat the cake and SHOW him that it was yummy...didn't work either.  He thought it was funny to watch them eat it!  Then Jed even showed him how to take a big bite ...he still wouldn't have anything to do with this GREEN cake.

He got the idea...you grab the cake, take a big fist full...and then - bring it to Daddy's mouth!  He thought it was fun to grab some cake and carry it to each person in the room.  He still refused to eat it on his own!  He definitely was NOT happy when anyone tried OR focused him to eat some birthday cake.  He got very upset...came running into my arms saying, "Mom - Mom."  Needless to say I was covered in cake as much as he was!  But I could never NOT hug my baby when he is crying my name <3

He made a mess.  Which is what I wanted him to do.  He probably only ate 2-3 bites total.  I think this completely scared him.  Maybe it is a good thing...he wont have a sweet tooth like his momma!

We realized...once we were done...that he hated being messy.  THAT was the problem.  He didn't know how to handle his hands being covered in sticky mess.  Once we cleaned off his hands he would grab some cake - until he realized, again, that it made his hands messy.  Basically once he was in the shower washing off the birthday cake - he was happy!

So exciting to celebrate his 1st Birthday!!

Dear Teague,
My baby.  My Love Monkey.  My Chunka-wunka.  I love you so much.  I can't believe that you are already a year old.   You are still so much a mommy's boy - and it better always stay that way.  You love to give hugs...and open mouth kisses...I love that you are a sweet affectionate child.
I hope that you continue to be such a happy child.  I hope you will always achieve whatever you set your mind too.  You can do anything.  You are so smart.

We want the best for you!  We love you so much.  You are wanted.  A year later...and your siblings STILL fight over who gets to "help" you.  You are a joy in ALL of our lives.
I hope that you have a GREAT 1st Birthday!!
XOXOXOXO

Love Your Mommy.

Blessed

We knew that when Jed decided to become a police officer that he could potentially be in dangerous situations.  Did I ever think he really would be...especially getting the PERFECT job in safe Broomfield?  No.

I feel a great amount of respect for Police Officers that put their lives in jeopardy daily to protect everyone else.  Not many people could do what they do on a daily basis.

I cannot give specifics as to what happened today but...here is the brief news report (Click HERE).  He witnessed something horrific and traumatizing.  To be involved where life was threatened...and another one taken...can only leave a lasting impression in your mind.  Images that will replay in your mind...for a long time.

Shock.  Jed is in a fog from the events from today.

I feel so blessed that HE and no other police officer was hurt or killed today.  Tonight I will definitely pray to thank Heavenly Father that my husband wasn't harmed...AND pray for the cops that were also involved - that they will be able to emotionally deal with the events today.  :(

Jumping Monkey

First time jumping on a trampoline...I guess after sitting on the tramp in the FREEZING cold sprinkler water he might as well enjoy the actual use of a tramp.  We made all the kiddos get off and we let the Tig-myster loose.  I'll tell ya...we had a hard time getting him OFF.  As soon as he would see me try to grab him he would turn away real fast and either FALL or run away laughing!  He had so many cheerleaders out there watching him...seriously, he is going to be a performer someday because he LOVES to put a show on for everybody!
